Vanderbilt Planetarium opened in 1971 to provide visitors with a facility that teaches stars, planets and space. Located on the Vanderbilt Estate property in Centerport, the planetarium boasts a 60-foot (18-meter) sky theater with a powerful projector that recreates the night. Space exhibits, globes, telescopes and artwork can also be seen. On Fridays visitors are invited to use the telescopes to gaze into the sky and programs are offered on a regular basis.

Suffolk Marine Environmental Learning Center
The Suffolk Marine Environmental Learning Center is dedicated to educating the public on the local marine ecology, and features a hatchery, hiking trails, a salt marsh and a touch tank. Located on Cedar Beach in Southold, NY.
